An analytical procedure is proposed for the evaluation of the eigenfrequenc
ies of a thin-walled beam curved in plan in response to transverse bending
and torsion with various boundary conditions. The analysis is performed thr
ough the introduction of four non-dimensionalized geometric parameters whic
h govern the dynamic behaviour of the beam. These parameters lead to an equ
ally non-dimensionalized eigenfrequency parameter through an appropriate tr
eatment of the differential equations on the basis of a computer program sp
ecially developed for this purpose. This program is also applied to investi
gate the influence of the aforementioned parameters on the eigenfrequency b
ehaviour of a thin-walled girder. (C) 1999 Academic Press.
