Abstract
The synthesis of two series of semiperfluoroalkyloxyphenyl and perfluoroalk ylphenyl beta-D-glucopyranosides is described. Their mesomorphic properties are studied by DSC, polarized optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Al l mesophases are identified as smectic A with a bimolecular in-layer arrang ement.
