Abstract
The reduction of electromagnetic scattering by a conducting cylinder with m ultiple surface impedance loads is investigated. Synthesis procedures are d eveloped to find the optimal loadings which result in zero scattering in th e desired directions or at several frequencies. Numerical results of these procedures are presented for TE polarization. The theoretical predictions a re confirmed with an experiment. The proposed synthesis procedures are comp letely general, and can be applied to arbitrarily shaped conducting bodies. (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
