Electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements were carried out at room te
mperature (=294 K), for FeCl3-filled polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) fi
lms, over the filling mass fraction range of 0<W<0.40. The films were
prepared by casting method. The ESR spectrum of the unfilled PVDF was
complex, due to the hyperfine interactions, arisen from the free radic
als. For PVDF filled with FeCl3 nearly symmetric Lorentzian ESR signal
s, without hyperfine spectra, were found around g=1.92. This is attrib
uted to the superexchange magnetic interactions among the symmetrical
octahedrally coordinated Fe3+ ions. The effect of the filling level on
the following ESR parameters are discussed: signal asymmetry line wid
th, g-factor, relaxation time, spin (and orbital) magnetic moment, num
ber of unpaired electrons per Fe ion and density of spin electrons.
