Abstract
Scientific knowledge develops through the evolution of new concepts. This p rocess is usually driven by new methodologies that provide observations not previously available. Understanding of pulmonary blood flow determinants a dvanced significantly in the 1960s and is now changing rapidly again, becau se of increased spatial resolution of regional pulmonary blood flow measure ments.
