Abstract
Reported in this paper are the separation characteristics and transport mec hanisms of membranes formed from poly[bis(phenoxy)phosphazene] based polyme rs. Separations of industrial interest include water purification, gas sepa rations, liquid state organic-water and organic-organic separations. Many o f these environments are chemically aggressive which often leads to the fai lure of many standard organic-based membrane materials and the polyphosphaz enes have been observed to effectively operate in such environments. In thi s paper, we will develop an argument that shows the value of custom tailori ng these membrane materials to fit the specific application of water purifi cation.
