Abstract
The effects of oxygen on the photochemical reactions of chromium(III) porph yrins with axial nitrogenous bases in toluene are studied by nanosecond las er flash photolysis. The photodissociation of the axial bases is confirmed to occur via both the excited states (4)S(1)and T-6(1) (and/or T-4(1)) on t he basis of the effect of oxygen on the quantum yield of photoreaction.
