Abstract
Iron output and ironmaking technology have been increased quickly and devel oped rapidly in China since 1978. The main technologies are of pulverized c oal injection, and extending blast furnace life. In our consideration, the key points of blast furnace technologies in China for the 21st century are: (1) long campaign life blast furnace, i.e., blast furnace campaign life ca n be more than 15 years. The life of coolers determines blast furnace campa ign life, and the blast furnace coolers of new design, through heat transfe r calculating, can stand for more than 15 years. (2) High efficiency blast furnace; this implies (1) making conventional blast furnaces with high effi ciency, i.e., the cost of iron can be lowered by 10-15% in the near future, the average productivity reaching more than 2.0 t/m(3) d. The coal injecti on rate will reach 150-200 kg/t and blast furnace campaign life will be pro longed to 15 years or so; blast furnace modern control and maintenance tech nologies are adopted. (2) The technique of the full oxygen blast furnace wi ll be developed further and applied.
