Usefulness of real-time CT fluoroscopy (CTF) as a tool for guiding intracra
nial interventions was evaluated based on our clinical experience. Twenty-s
ix interventional procedures were undertaken in 16 patients under CTF guide
nce, which included puncture of intracranial hematoma, hematoma drainage, c
erebrospinal fluid drainage and tumor biopsy. Real-time monitoring with CTF
successfully demonstrated the process of intracranial interventions in all
cases. The advantages of CT fluoroscopy were improved accuracy of puncture
by monitoring the position and direction of the needle, and improved safet
y by avoiding critical punctures.
