A case of pathologically proven extraskeletal osteochondroma is presented w
ith magnetic resonance imaging (MRT), computed tomography (CT), bone scan a
nd radiographic findings. The diagnosis of extraskeletal osteochondroma sho
uld be considered when a discrete, ossified mass is localized in the soft t
issues of the distal extremities. Nomenclature surrounding this entity is c
ontroversial and is discussed.
