Abstract
An efficient synthesis of (S,S)-2-(aminomethyl) cyclopropane carboxylic aci d has been achieved in 7 steps (38% overall yield) starting from commercial ly available cinnamyl alcohol. The synthesis involves initial stereoselecti ve formation of the functionalized cyclopropane derivative 5 and its furthe r transformation to the desired product.
