Abstract
Mass Spectrometry (MS) enables the study of alkali metal and tetramethylamm onium (TMA) complexes which are formed during potentiometric titrations. Th eir formation and their evolution as a function of pH are confirmed by mean s of Na-23 NMR spectroscopy. This is a common phenomenon which calls the pr inciple of pH-metric titration of polyacids into question. (C) 1999 Elsevie r Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
