A redefinition and phylogenetic analysis of the tribe Nanosellini Barber 19
24 is presented, including 12 previously described genera ( Baranowskiella,
Cylindrosella, Hydnosella, Isolumpia, Nanosella, Nellosana, Mikado, Paratu
posa, Porophila, Suterina, Throscidium, Throscoptilium) and 14 new genera (
Cylindroselloides, Fijisella, Fijiselloides, Garicaphila, Limulosella, Nell
osanoides, Nepalumpia, Phililumpia, Scydosella, Scydoselloides, Tasmangaric
a, Throscoptiloides, Throscosana, Vitusella). Type species are listed for e
ach genus, including 14 new species or combinations: Cylindroides dybasi, F
ijisella vituensis, Fijiselloides nandaivatuensis, Garicaphila pilosa, Limu
losella waspucensis, Nellosanoides thayerae, Nepalumpia markusi, Phililumpi
a werneri, Scydosella musawasensis, Scydoselloides alajuelaensis, Tasmangar
ica chisholmi, Throscoptiloides norcoensis, Throscosana pecki, Vitusella fi
jiensis. New genus level combinations are presented: Philagarica new synony
m of Mikado; Mycophagus new synonym of Nanosella. At the species level, Pti
lum fungi LeConte is proposed as a new synonym for Nanosella fungi Motschul
sky. Key characters used in the morphological analysis are illustrated. Phy
logenetic reconstructions are presented based on parsimony analyses. Possib
le evolutionary relationships within Nanosellini are discussed.
