Abstract
Experiments on two-stage collective ion acceleration are performed. In the first stage, a preliminary acceleration by a pulsed virtual catho de occurs, which is accompanied by time modulation of the current of t he relativistic electron beam. In the second stage, the ions are accel erated by the space-charge wave formed in the rippled magnetic field. Simulation of the acceleration is carried out. The calculation results agree with the experiment.
