Discovery of knowledge in Dutch dairy databases

The Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering (IMAG-DLO) and UNIFORM Agri have started a joint research project to investigate the prosp ects of data mining to obtain additional information from the combined data of individual dairy farms. The project consists of three phases: 1) the fo rmulation of questions on farm management, results, 2) the collection and h andling of data, and 3) the search for 'new' information and knowledge that is hidden in the data (the data mining process). This paper gives an overv iew of the project and some preliminary results.
