The development of the man-engine-environment system: An approach to the functional recovery of traditional rural factories

On the basis of a study of the organizational, constructional, functional a nd dimensional characteristics of some buildings for the selection of seeds situated in a typical "marginal" situation in Sicily, the existing ties be tween the various elements involved in the production process, the sizing o f the operational spaces and the organization of the work are analyzed. The n, making use of the parameters thus deduced, the possibility of reusing so me disused factories through their conversion and a reorganization of the p roduction process with the aim of improving the man-machine-environment rel ationship is considered.
