A research on the determination of some mechanical properties of sunflower

This research was made during 1996-1997 in the practical and research field of Tekirdag Agricultural Faculty in Turkey. The aim of this research was t he determination of some physical and mechanical properties of sunflower su ch as stalk shear force, bending strength, coefficient of friction, modulus of elasticity, hull breaking which are specially effected sunflower harves ting. The summary results of this experiment are the follow: The values of stalk shear force, bending strength, modulus of elasticity we re changed according to stalk moisture content and stalk diameter. Coeffici ents of friction of sunflower seeds were effected different friction surfac es and changed relatively with moisture content of the seeds. Breaking forc e of sunflower seed hulls changed according to position (vertical and horiz ontal) and moisture content of seeds.
