Canadian lesbians of ethnic ancestry experience many identity struggles as
a result of being in multiple situations within both their own ethnic commu
nities and their chosen lesbian communities. The case study presented here
used a life-history approach to explore these dynamics. The life and experi
ences of one lesbian of ethnic ancestry are examined to highlight the usefu
lness of the life-history method in uncovering the complex realities that e
thnic lesbians face in the creation of their subjective identities.
