Abstract
In patients with structural heart disease and left ventricular ejection fra ction <40%, internal cardioversion is a safe and effective method for conve rting persistent atrial fibrillation. The acute success rate and atrial def ibrillation requirement for cardioversion in these patients is comparable t o patients with lone atrial fibrillation and structurally normal hearts.
