We present a study of the H(n = 1)+ H(n = 3) dissociation process in molecu
lar hydrogen occurring after one-photon absorption from various rovibration
al levels (upsilon' = 19,20; J' = 0, I) of the B(1)Sigma(u)(t)(1s sigma(g))
(2p sigma(u)) state using (1 + 1') resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionizatio
n (REMPI). The results provide further evidence for the importance of the e
xcitation of the vibrational continua of singly excited Rydberg states afte
r one-photon absorption from the B state. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. Al
