Abstract
Steel-plate acceleration by explosion of an HMX charge is modeled numerical ly by two-dimensional computations in cylindrical coordinates. The results fit quite well the available experimental data. It is shown that the measur ed plate energy is lower than its value calculated in one-dimensional model ing of the process because the detonation wave in experiment is initiated a t a point at the open charge end, the detonation products expand laterally, and the plate interacts with the casing part unloaded in the direction of the charge axis.
