Abstract
We present a physically based model for the draping behaviour of knitted fa brics. The model is a generalization of previous models suitable for woven materials. The additional computational effort for the generalized model is only a small fraction compared to the previous model. The currently used a daptive step-size solvers for ordinary differential equations (ODE), which are an important part of the computational engine of the simulation system, usually show a slightly worse behaviour on the extended model than on the original ones. The required overall simulation time is still in the same ra nge as the simpler original model. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All right s reserved.
