Abstract
This paper presents r- and hr-adaptive schemes for boundary element method. The error analysis is carried out by the sample point error estimation sch eme. Then, the error indicator is defined by the product of the computation al error and the fundamental solution. Mesh refinement is carried out so th at the error indicator distributes uniformly over the whole boundary. The p resent schemes are applied to the two-dimensional potential problem in orde r to confirm its validity. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserv ed.
