K. Zakowski et W. Sokolski, 24-hour characteristic of interaction on pipelines of stray currents leaking from tram tractions, CORROS SCI, 41(11), 1999, pp. 2099-2111
Methods described in the literature have been presented for determination o
f the corrosion hazard caused by stray currents. 24-h characteristics have
been presented of interaction with pipelines of randomly changing stray cur
rents leaking out of tram tractions. Results have been obtained by applying
the correlation method of investigating stray currents, in which the asymm
etry coefficient value of pipeline potential changes in relation to the sta
tionary potential was used as the electrolytic corrosion hazard criterion.
The presented characteristics were obtained on the basis of short-term meas
urement results lasting 30 min, performed consecutively one after each othe
r during 24 h. The presented results can be used for long-term prognosis of
the electrolytic corrosion hazard to pipelines on the basis of short-term
measurements. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
