Abstract
The roX genes of Drosophila produce a transcript that is spliced and polyad enylated but not translated. Recent work has shown that these genes provide an element that the dosage compensation complex of Drosophila uses to init iate its association with the X chromosome. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
