Abstract
Transmission over 1000km of a 10Gbit/s signal at 1597nm is demonstrated in a recirculating loop using standard fibre and wideband dispersion-compensat ing fibre in the pre-compensation configuration. It is shown that dispersio n maps optimised for 1550nm can be successfully used in the L-band, removin g the need for separate band dispersion compensation.
