Abstract
This article represents a transcribed roundtable discussion on anxiety diso rders that took place at the 1998 Society for Psychotherapy Research in Sno wbird, Utah. Eminent experts in the field of anxiety disorders took part in a discussion that focused on issues related to theory, basic science, publ ic policy therapy research, clinical training, and practice. Important topi cs addressed by the panel included the role of theory in research and clini cal practice, the importance of psychopharmacological interventions, effica cy versus effectiveness research, the impact of public policy on research a dvancement, and the interface between basic science, research. and clinical practice.
