Abstract
This paper addresses the relation between constraining forces, constraint e quations, and undetermined multipliers, used in studying constrained multib ody systems. A formalism is developed establishing the undetermined multipl ier method through the concept of a generalized constraint force, partial v elocities, and kinematic constraint equations.
