Abstract
Crystallographic data imply that intermolecular hypervalent interactions, " secondary bonds", involving heavy p-block elements such as Bi(III), may for m robust supramolecular synthons with many features in common with organic hydrogen bonds, including the ability to form polymeric networks in the sol id state.
