A methodological approach is developed to the problem of processing structu
ral materials of a fusion reactor, as applied to the DEMO project, where an
alloy based on V, Cr, and Ti is selected as a base structural material. Th
e data on the contribution of various radionuclides to the dose rate produc
ed by irradiated structural materials are summarized. The requirements are
formulated to radiochemical refinement of irradiated structural materials,
allowing their refabrication with the minimal protection from radiation.
