Abstract
Ethylene acetals and ethylene ketals undergo reductive scission under the a ction of (Bu2AlH)-Al-i in the presence of catalytic amounts of ZrCl4. With Et3Al and (Bu3Al)-Al-i, reductive alkylation also occurs.
