An analysis of the plant communities of the Zastron area (South Africa) is
presented. The Braun-Blanquet-technique, supplemented by TWINSPAN, was used
for the phytosociological classification of the vegetation Twenty distinct
plant communities were recognized and described. An hierarchical classific
ation is presented and each vegetation unit is related to specific environm
ental characteristics. A DECORANA ordination is also presented, showing env
ironmental gradients.
