J. Beaver et D. Safran, Pneumopericardium mimicking acute myocardial ischemia after laparoscopic cholecystectomy, SOUTH MED J, 92(10), 1999, pp. 1002-1004
Pneumopericardium occurred after laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a 57-year-
old woman. The patient had chest pain accompanied by T-wave inversion on el
ectrocardiogram, with signs and symptoms suggestive of acute myocardial isc
hemia, Evaluation for myocardial infarction, however, was negative and clin
ical findings resolved spontaneously. Although pneumopericardium after lapa
roscopic procedures has been previously reported, this case illustrates how
associated finding may mimic those of acute myocardial ischemia or infarct
ion.
