Abstract
Phosphonic acid derivatives of prostaglandins F-1 alpha and F-2 alpha were prepared through Arbuzov reaction of 2-decarboxy-2-iodoprostaglandin interm ediates. The intermediate iodo compounds, which are potentially valuable fo r the synthesis of other analogs, were obtained from the parent prostagland ins by Barton's modification of the Hunsdiecker reaction.
