Inflammatory mediators in asthma: new therapeutic approaches

During the National Meeting of Clinical Pharmacology (Giens 1998), the work ing group exchanged information and examined the new therapeutic approaches to inflammation in asthma. The group performed a state of the art review o f the current research on mediators of bronchial inflammation to determine new pharmacological targets of therapeutic interest. An update on the devel opment of potential drugs acting on these targets was established. Specific ities related to asthma in terms of evaluation and development of anti-infl ammatory drugs were discussed. The place of pharmacoeconomy in the developm ent of anti-asthmatic drugs was specified.
