To improve power factors and to meet IEC-555-2 harmonic requirements, input
power-factor correction circuits are being widely used in the power supply
industry. In response to this trend, a microcontroller-based pulse-width m
odulated single phase ac to de unity power factor converter has been design
ed, implemented, and tested to evaluate its performance. Simulation and exp
erimental results confirm that the supply current can be controlled to rema
in almost sinusoidal with a near unity power factor by means of the propose
d central strategy.
