Tialite was prepared from the chlorine salts of aluminium and titanium ria
a ur ea formaldehyde resin formation route. Tialite was readily formed at 1
450-1500 degrees C in bodies processed from powders containing either 3 wt-
%MgF2 or 5 wt-%MgO added during resin formation. The resultant material wit
hstood heat treatment at 1100 degrees C for 24 h without dissociation. In b
odies prepared by mixing powders of MgO, MgF2, or a combination of both wit
h polymer prepared powder, the resultant tialite was less stable against di
ssociation.
