A Labrador crossbreed female dog was presented for a right forelimb lamenes
s of 4.5 years' duration. The severity of the symptoms had suddenly increas
ed 8 months earlier, after a trauma. Surgical exploration did not reveal ca
lcification either in the joint capsule or in the flexor tendons. The fragm
ent was intraarticular. No evidence of bone repair was noticed at surgery w
hich confirmed imaging findings. The histologic findings were very much lik
e those observed with chronic fragmented coronoid process. Finally, the lam
eness, although suddenly exacerbated by a trauma, was already present. All
these facts led to a final diagnosis of a true "ununited medial humeral epi
condyle", a term introduced to describe the lack of fusion of the caudal pa
rt of the humeral medial epicondyle.
