Abstract
Mixed-mode delamination crack growth characteristics in a Nicalon/glass (ba rium magnesium alumino-silicate, BMAS) woven laminated ceramic-matrix compo site (CMC) have been analyzed. Delamination crack growth under mixed-mode c onditions was investigated by the use of a computational mechanics approach . For the purpose of this study the CMC specimen considered was in four-poi nt bending. A T-crack configuration was investigated with particular attent ion to determining the influence of notch depth and delamination crack leng th on the effective strain-energy release rate.
