Abstract
We have studied the maximal angle of stability of a granular packing confin ed between two walls. The effect of the walls is to increase the angle dram atically. The decay of the angle with the distance between the walls is exp onential with a characteristic length which is a function of the beads diam eter. The effect of the roughness of the walls has been also studied.
