Abstract
The thermodynamic theory developed in [6] is extended to describe the uniax ial stress induced cubic-tetragonal martensitic transformation. The theory is found to provide a good quantitative agreement with the experimentally o bserved sigma - T phase diagram of martensitic transformation exhibited by Ni-Mn-Ga alloys (sigma is the uniaxial compressive stress in [110] directio n).
