T. Heller et al., Impact of a consumer-directed family support program on adults with developmental disabilities and their family caregivers, FAM RELAT, 48(4), 1999, pp. 419-427
In the current study we examined the impact of family support programmes fo
r adults with developmental disabilities. Results of the study indicated th
at participants had fewer unmet needs and used more services than the contr
ol group. Participant caregivers were more satisfied with the services thei
r relative received, experienced gl-eater self-efficacy, and were less like
ly to desire an out-of-home placement than the control group. Participants
with developmental disabilities experienced increases in community integrat
ion and monthly wage.
