Telemedicine and diabetes

Telecommunication technology has reached a maturity which can effectively s upport the promotion of health, prevention and management of diseases and r ehabilitation. To achieve effective support harmonisation and interoperabil ity of technologies are main requirements. This article tries to point out hew interoperability is being met and how the requirements are being applie d using DIABCARD as an example. DIABCARD has developed a chip card based me dical information system for the care of persons with diabetes.
