D. Barthes et Y. Tuchman, CONFRONTATION BETWEEN POWER SPECTRA OF MIRA STARS AND THEORETICAL-MODELS, Astronomy and astrophysics, 289(2), 1994, pp. 429-440
The observed period spectrum of two typical Mira variables (S CMi and
chi Cyg) is confronted with theoretical nonadiabatic linear models. It
turns out that almost all observed frequencies in the cleaned spectru
m of these two chosen variables can be explained as radial pulsational
modes, their harmonies and combinations if the dominant mode is ident
ified with the first overtone. This procedure is shown to be a powerfu
l tool for mass and luminosity determination of Long Period Variables.
