One-loop effective multigluon Lagrangian in arbitrary dimensions

We exhibit the one-loop multigluon effective Lagrangian in any dimension fo r a field theory with a quasilocal background, using the background-field f ormalism. Specific results, including counterterms (up to 12 space-time dim ensions), have been derived, applied to the Yang-Mills theory and found to be in agreement with other string-inspired approaches.
