Abstract
In this study, properties of long-range surface plasmons (LRSPs) in an arbi trary multilayer structure have been investigated. We derived an approximat ion of the reflectivity from Fresnel formulas. Furthermore, the resonant pr operties of LRSPs have been calculated. As a result of the simulations, we conclude that the difference in resonant angles decreases as the metal thic kness increases, and the damping rate obtained from the Sarid geometry is l ower than that obtained from the Kretschmann geometry, The resonant half-wi dth obtained from the Sarid geometry is narrower than those obtained from t he Kretschmann and Otto geometries. As far as SP chemical sensors are conce rned, the system based on the Sarid geometry is better than that based on t he Kretschmann or Otto geometry.
