Abstract
A facile and effective reagent system comprising of a semi-molten mixture o f hexadecyltributylphosphonium bromide and potassium fluoride has been deve loped and its scope has been investigated in nucleophilic fluoride exchange with various organohalides. This simple and convenient reagent system prov ides organofluorine compounds in high yields even with haloesters in which fluoride catalysed elimination is also feasible.
