Abstract
The relationship between anterior guidance and the mesiodistal inclination of the lower incisors relative to the existence of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) noise was investigated. One hundred and thirty-four individuals, 21 t o 40 years of age (mean age 23.8; 104 men and 30 women), were examined. A h ighly significant correlation was observed between the mean lower-incisor i nclination and the difference in steepness between the right and left anter ior guidances in the subject group showing TMJ noise (P < 0.001), whereas n o significant correlation was observed in the group without TMJ noise.
