The features and performances of audio watermarking techniques currently be
ing used are presented. In order to make a comparison, an adaptive content-
based watermark embedding and extracting scheme in audio signals is propose
d. The watermark embedding scheme is highly related to the signal contents.
This method can obtain a good tradeoff between inaudibility and robustness
in embedded signals. First the original audio signal is divided adaptively
into different kinds of segments according to its characteristics in the t
ime domain. Then the embedding scheme is designed for each segment accordin
g to the properties in the frequency domain. Finally a multiple-echo hoppin
g technique is used to embed and extract watermarks. This method is compare
d with other current techniques of audio watermarking and results of the ev
aluation are presented.
