We examined the undercooling behavior and bulb state amorphous formation of
a drop-like Pd40Cu30Ni10P20 alloy using the high frequency heating and mel
ting apparatus by 1 kW power supply. In view of the high undercooling liqui
d formation ability of the above alloy, we used a combination of two solidi
fication processes: the slow cooling solidification until just before nucle
ation temperature in vacuum atmosphere and just after He gas jet cooling. A
s a result, we have shown the undercooling solidification and the newly bul
b state amorphous formation process of Pd40Cu30Ni10P20 alloy in detail.
